Classes were suspended right after the Coronavirus scare spread like a wildfire in Manila, Philippines. Mayor Francisco Domagoso suspended the classes as the number of coronavirus patients are escalating. Prioritizing the safety of the students, FEU High School strictly complied with the announcement right after it was declared.

No one expected that March 9 to 15 of this year would be the last time they’ll tap their IDs, greet the cheerful guards, and encounter their teachers and classmate. It’s been a tough year for everyone since then. However, the spirit of Fortitude, Excellence, and Uprightness is still evident to the students despite the calamity that the world is facing. The challenges that we face gives us a new season where we have to switch and transit to another style of living. With that, our education system is still pursued but approached on a different way.

For the past months of being quarantined, some people tried to pursue short online courses for free. Most of those who attempted to acquire “quaran-skills” received different certificates from institutions like Harvard, Oxford, Yale, and more. By facing this academic trend, others managed to suggest helpful ways on how online classes must be approached on a prepared way.

As 21st Century learners, most of us are trained to adapt certain changes that would improve our academic competencies. Studying with technology helped the students to surpass rigours and make it an aide our everyday learning. Platforms like Canvas were made to promote paperless transactions  and make learning convenient for everyone.

The academic year 2020-2021 is fast approaching. With that, most of the schools is continuously shifting from a traditional classroom set-up into a virtual classroom set-up. The government itself also stated that face-to-face classes will be prohibited until vaccine becomes available to assure the safety of the students. Though students are molded to adapt changes, it’s still inevitable for some to adjust and end up being puzzled and afraid on how are they to prepare to the semester-long online class. Luckily, tips and tricks were provided online but only few of them works logically.

Here are the 7 of the most important tips that you most likely to consider while adjusting to the “new normal” education:

1. Plan things ahead of time

Planning is one of the things where you can strategize the set-up that works the best for you. You may be able to forsee the things you have to prepare and accomplish to have a good study time. If you happen to buy a planner this year, don’t worry because you may still as useful as it should be.

2. Manage your time wisely

Right after you strategize your set-up, you may start plotting your schedule and work on the time frame that works for you. If you’re active studying on the morning, you may plot your study time during the day and versa. This could help you identify the duration you allow on studying and other chores as well. Remember that as you respect your own time, you’re also able to honor others as well.

3. Create a study space

This tip sound impossible for because not all homes has a conducive learning environment. Yet, we can work on ways that may still help us have a study space. Incase you don’t have your personal space at home, this might sound helpful for you. Find a specific place at home that helps you relax and focus as you continue. Next, have your school bag with you. Store your personal belongings inside and it will help you clean up as you grab your things one by one. Lastly,

4. Maintain your routine

Of course, major changes has been affecting us. Unusual as it may sound but keeping the same routine as if we’re also commuting or walking out way to school can help us channel the “study mode” in us. Continue to wake up early, take shower early, attend synchronous classes early, and work on your loads as early as possible as well.

5. Eliminate distractions

Sometimes, even in our own classroom we fall asleep or minds are daydreaming while the lecture is on going. It’s not impossible for us to experience the same thing especially now that we have to do things alone. We know what could catch our attention and soon, we’ll find ourselves distracted already. Try spending lesser time on checking your social media accounts or even your favorite mobile game. Surely, it will be rewarding because #PatienceIsAVirtue

6. Focus on what’s important to you, not just on your goals.

Most of the people will tend to tell you that you have to focus on your goals and there’s no doubt on that. But focusing on what’s important to you is way different on focusing on your goals alone. When things are important to us, we tend to make much efforts on it than other things on our life. Same goes with studying, if it’s important to you, you’ll make your best out of it. Make education your priority.

7. “Follow excellence and success will chase you.”

A famous quote from the film “3 Idiots” can inspire you. Upholding excellence on our daily lives can give us excellent results as well. Yes, we will never know what’s good enough but getting the “just right” can make us even more happier and less stressed on our environment. Success will come along way and who knows, maybe it’s just around the corner.

As what we mentioned a while ago, technology helps the student surpass day-to-day challenges. Indeed, modern problems need modern solutions. With that, listed below are the apps that you may find helpful as you study:

For Review:

* Quizlet

* Tiny Cards

* Flashcards

For Focus timers

To wrap up, the tests of time are mostly not meant to harm us but rather give us a new character that will improve our being, emotionally and spiritually. Later on, you can find yourself looking back at this moment and smile for it allowed you to see what was needed to be seen.
