About the Office

The FEU High School Student Formation Office (SFO) plays a pivotal role in shaping Tamaraw students into informed, engaged, and responsible citizens who will contribute meaningfully to foster an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, secure, and free from harm.

Through its transformative approach, the SF seeks to provide students with many opportunities to cultivate personal, academic, career, cultural, and social-emotional growth. Furthermore, it plays an integral role in identifying advocacies, encouraging students to have social involvement, making them well-rounded individuals, and being great contributors to their community and the country.

Goal

FEU High School Student Formation aims to establish and sustain a safe, supportive, and data-informed learning environment for all Tamaraws, where character formation through homeroom and discipline programs is transformative and nurturing. It seeks to develop students who thrive holistically—academically, socially, emotionally, and in character—while enhancing the overall student experience. Grounded in the core values of Fortitude, Excellence, and Uprightness, it envisions students who embody brave character marked by resilience, curiosity, and principled action, and who actively foster a culture of inclusivity, compassion, active listening, respect, and empathy, thereby becoming safe spaces for one another within the school community.

Tamaraws as a Safe Space

Tamaraws as a Safe Space themselves, embody the qualities that foster CARE:

Compassion – characterized by the desire to take action to help other people.
Active Listening – a communication technique used to fully engage and understand other people, may it be verbal or non-verbal. Understanding carefully what others are saying, providing feedback, deferring judgement, and responding appropriately.
Respect – due regard for the feelings, opinions, rights, traditions, culture, and the like, of other people.
Empathy – characterized of having the ability to understand and share the feelings of other people.

Key Components

The following key components are implemented thru the Responsible and Informed Student Engagement (RISE) Program:

Fortitude – focuses on Social Emotional Learning (Katatagan) – Social Emotional Learning or SEL is the process of developing key skills that endable individuals to identify and manage emotions, build healthy relationships, and be responsible in decision-making. It helps students develop essential soft-skills equipping them with the tools to navigate the complexities in life.
Excellence – focuses on Lifelong Learning (Kahusayan) – Lifelong learning is a self-motivated and unending pursuit of knowledge and skills. It aims for every individual’s growth, personal and professional development, as well as adaptability. It allows students to continuously develop themselves and understand the various aspects of life.
Uprightness – focuses on Civic Competence (Katuwiran) – Civic Competence refers to the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values that enable individuals to effectively participate to be great contributors for the society’s common good. It involves an understanding of citizens’ rights and responsibilities, the law, as well as joining community extension projects.

Responsible and Informed Student Engagement (RISE)

The Responsible and Informed Student Engagement (RISE) Program serves as the guiding framework for the FEU High School Homeroom experience, aimed at fostering the holistic development of students. By integrating essential life skills into their daily learning, the program nurtures learners who are grounded in the school’s core values of Fortitude, Excellence, and Uprightness.

The homeroom themes, outlined through the RISE Map, are anchored in both local and international standards and frameworks to ensure quality, relevance, and adaptability. This structure reflects the school’s vision, responds to the essential developmental needs of students, and is deeply rooted in the culture and context of the FEU High School community.

FEU High School as a champion of Transformative Discipline

Managing students’ behavior and experiences that focuses on mentoring and guiding rather than punishment, but still inculcating proper student decorum. This approach ensures firmness but with affirmation.

Alignment to School Policies
- establish consistent rules with logical consequences, providing structure to promote both academic and behavioral success,
- policy setting, roundtable discussion, and consultation with stakeholders about the Student Code of Conduct
- Promoting safe space thru the school’s Anti Bullying and Child Protection Policy
- Provision of Conduct Grades
Coaching and Conflict Resolution (Problem-Solving)
- Root Cause Analysis
- Alternative Dispute Resolution
- Formal Investigation Process
Engagement to Student Formation Activities
- activities to address the root cause/s of misbehavior rather than just dealing with the superficial behavior,
- Disciplinary interventions and corrective measures are commensurate to the gravity of the act committed,
- Guiding, Advising, and Building Affirmations for the Youth (GABAY)
