FEU High School (FEU HS), in collaboration with Far Eastern University – Institute of Education and Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), enhances its teaching pedagogies and educational philosophy through regular training.
FEU High School (FEU HS), in collaboration with Far Eastern University – Institute of Education and Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), enhances its teaching pedagogies and educational philosophy through regular training. Recently, it conducted a two-part In-Service Training on Facilitating Student-Centered Teaching spread over two weeks. The goal is to empower its educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote continuous professional development, effectively utilize educational technologies, and introduce innovative teaching approaches to further promote student-centered learning.
The training explored learner-centered teaching and a range of classroom dynamics, including strategies to boost student engagement in the classroom. It also included discussions designing intended learning outcomes, implementing SOLO taxonomy, developing course curricula rooted in educational ideologies, assessing students’ critical thinking skills, and micro-teaching sessions. This was facilitated by invited faculty and academics from the FEU Manila – Institute of Education with strong backgrounds and experiences in pedagogy, assessment, and student-centered teaching and learning.
The second part of the training is approved by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) crediting. It equips educators with the different aspects of teaching, specifically designing flipped classroom learning plans, facilitating learner-centered teaching, assessing learning outcomes, and discipline-specific teaching.
FEU HS Director for Academic Development Mr. Teofilo Bernardo L. Gonzales III said, “As we envision our students to flourish in both college and at work and lead a more meaningful and rewarding life, we aspire to embrace new teaching paradigms that will further enhance our education, enrich the learning experience of our students and impart our core values of Fortitude, Excellence, and Uprightness.”

Student-Centered Learning and the Flipped classroom pedagogies are at the core of FEU High School’s approach to teaching and learning. Students can set their own pace of learning through social interaction and educational platforms and activities.
FEU HS Executive Director Generoso Pamittan Jr. added, “The characteristics and behavior of our students are significantly different now. The dynamics of students’ learning inside and outside the classroom are constantly changing, therefore, new perspectives and approaches to teaching and students’ learning have emerged. Therefore, training sessions like this are essential. As an educational institution that deeply values continuous learning, we always strive to further improve and deepen our teaching in terms of content and pedagogy.”
