The FEU High School team of Isa Geraldine Raceles, Allyza Ashley Robles, and David Jerome Yumang from 12 STEM won the championship in 25th SquEEEze 2022 Technological Design Contest during the finals round yesterday, February 8. The FEU HS team competed against four finalists from Philippines Science High School Central Visayas and Cagayan Campuses, and Santa Rosa Science and Technology Campus.
According to the team, “Project SmaCoMa: Small-Scale Solar Dependent Aerating Composting Machine in Minimizing Food Waste” was conceptualized by Raceles during her Junior High School days and later developed by the team during their Practical Research classes in FEU HS. The project aims to develop a small-scale solar-dependent aerating composting machine to produce compost beneficial to the environment and humans.
STEM teachers Aerielle Nuestro and Charles Sombillo served as coaches of the champion team.
The achievement is only the start, as the team emphasized that they plan to implement their winning entry during Inquiries, Investigation, and Immersion (III) this semester.
SquEEEze is an annual national competition and convention by the University of the Philippines for the top Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) students and EEE professionals.
