Jan had many expectations upon entering FEU HS. Besides the quality of teaching and the curriculum, extra-curricular activities play an important role in shaping his personality as a student. The facilities are exceptional, and the school’s reputation and the roles of stakeholders reflect the core values of the school — Fortitude, excellence, and uprightness. FEU HS is a place of opportunity.

FEU High School has been a place for students to explore their potential and be part of the community. For Jan Harold Catu, he felt so much happiness when he passed the admission test. For him, FEU was the best space to continue his student journey.

It was challenging for some students to adjust because of their new environment, but what made it easier for the students to feel comfortable and adjust is that teachers would offer compassion and guidance for students who have a difficult time adjusting to the new set-up. Through these, students were instilled with compassion and an eagerness to meet new people and be comfortable exploring and discovering FEU. As an outgoing person, Jan immediately wanted to break the barrier of awkwardness and the feeling of uneasiness for everyone to feel more comfortable in the remote and online community set up. The learning process became easier and bearable because of the people and the positive culture of the FEU community.

Jan Harold highlighted the use of CANVAS where he could easily access his grades. The activities were efficient for students even in a remote set-up. As the pandemic took place, adjusting to the new normal was difficult but through the # FEUhighadvantage, the e-learning space of students became convenient and accessible for all. Jan Harold mentioned that FEU High School gives so much importance to the welfare of students, which he can’t find in other institutions. And lastly, he highlighted that the advantageous bar set by FEU was its quality of education and the students were not compromised and deprived of a poor learning system despite the pandemic.

For Jan Harold, Handugan 2019 was one of the happiest and most fulfilled experiences outside the classroom. Jan Harold was part of the planning, execution, and hosting. For him, no other thing in this world is better than being able to help and give back to the people. The event was so important to him as he saw the smiles of other students, which he would never trade for anything.

Being a student and a leader was not easy. He needed to balance his roles and manage his time. But he did not compromise his duties and responsibilities. To him, being a great service to his fellow Tamaraws is an honor. What also helped him was the never-ending support and encouragement given by FEU high school, his adviser, teachers, schoolmates, and family. He would be forever grateful for the opportunity that FEU high school has given him.

Outstanding, inclusive, and flexible — this is FEU HS for Jan Harold. Outstanding, for the institution absolutely highlights excellent quality of education, manner of teaching, and care for its students. Inclusive, for the institution respects and accommodates all genders, religions, beliefs, services, and facilities expected and met with great responsibility, respect, and understanding of the growing culture society needs to face and be open about. They feel a sense of security and acceptance within the school community they belong to. Flexible, for the institution showed a great response to the unprecedented Covid-19 Pandemic and the new normal system they have established for their students in a short amount of time.

The quality of having to experience Fortitude, Excellence, and Uprightness are no more than just words of wisdom. For Jan Harold, these were shown through the actions of everyone inside the campus, as the students are committed to learning, practicing, and making a difference.
