𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘭𝘦 𝘣𝘺 𝘙𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘓𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘰𝘯, 𝘓𝘢𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘣𝘺 𝘈𝘭𝘦𝘹 𝘈𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘥𝘰
The Guidance Office for Counseling, Assessment, Research, and Evaluation or GOCARE alongside the Junior Peers Organization launched another version of their ‘TheraPeer’ program on January 20, 2021 at 4 PM via MS Teams.
The program focused on the topic of dance as a form of therapy. It started with the opening remarks given by Mr. Alexander James Villanueva and followed by an icebreaker. The presenters asked various questions like the dance trends the attendees like the most, their favorite local and international dancer, etc., to which they responded using the chat-box.
The ‘Guess the Dance’ activity took place after the 20-minute icebreaker, which had three different categories. Firstly, the Philippine Folk Dance where the hosts showed the props commonly used when performing a specific dance under the category. For example, bamboo sticks with two men holding each end was a clue given for ‘Tinikling,’ and candles were presented as clues for ‘Pandanggo sa Ilaw.’ The second category was K-pop where different muted clips of the performers dancing along to K-pop music were displayed. The last variant was the TikTok Dance edition where the hosts exhibited video clips, again without sounds, of people dancing to TikTok dances that went viral online. The responses, like in the previous activity, were sent through the chatbox.
The penultimate activity of the session was the sharing of the participants’ experiences during the event and their takeaways that can be later applied to life. As a way to support the FEU High School community at this time, the Junior Peers Organization and the GOCARE will continue to provide activities in the future such as another installment of the TheraPEER program and more webinars.
