The theme of this LIKE talk was all about service and passion during the new normal.

In continuation of the LIKE (Life, Interests, Knowledge, and Experience) Talks Series, Miguel Benjamin Guico of Ben&Ben and The Noche Buena Project co-founder Karelle Anne Bulan were invited as guest speakers for the 4th webinar series held via Facebook live and MS Teams last January 15 at exactly 6:00 PM.

The FEU High School Student Government President Mickah Claron hosted the first LIKE Talks of the year and the guest speakers were welcomed by the Executive Director of FEU HS and facilitator of the event, Ms. Stephanie Ann Mutuc.

The theme of this LIKE talk was all about service and passion during the new normal. Ms. Bulan started off by sharing about her background – being a 3rd-year medical student and at the same time being an active advocate of “The Noche Buena Project.” The project was founded almost 12 years ago with the goal of providing Noche Buena goods to the least fortunate families in the Philippines so that more families will feel the spirit of Christmas. “Alam naman natin ‘di ba, as a Filipino, Christmas is really, really important and even if the year has been tough especially this 2020, we always find a way to celebrate the Christmas in our own ways especially with our loved ones,” Ms. Bulan said.

On the other hand, Mr. Guico then introduced himself as part of the well-known Filipino band Ben&Ben and shared that he keeps himself busy by doing creative things alongside his band, which has been active online. “Noong past 6 months, actually on break lang kami ngayon, pero nag-lock in kaming band together in Batangas, so we did that of course because we had to find ways to keep creating and doing shows kahit online shows in the middle of the pandemic,” he expressed.

Guico also shared about his social involvement as each of them in the band has their own advocacies and has shared and contributed a lot to different projects including The Noche Buena Project. He also said that he has been close with a tribal community for some time now and has been keeping in touch with them.

The interview also had Mr. Justin Flores of the Humanities and Social Sciences department and Ms. Claron ask questions about volunteerism, nation-building, youth, and advocacies to Guico and Bulan, who shared more of their experiences and opinions. Shortly after, Mr. Flores and Ms. Claron facilitated the short question and answer segment with the viewers.

On the final part of the webinar, school Registrar Mr. Jomar Redubla issued the certificates as a small token of gratitude to the guest speakers. The participants also obtained a certificate of participation and a free registration fee for the Grade 11 application, much like prior events. The next LIKE Talks will commence on January 22 and interested participants may visit FEU HS’s official Facebook page for more details about the event.
